The Execution of An Idea

So, you have an idea? Well, before you start executing we have to make sure you’re taking the essential steps to bring it to fruition. Every idea should capture your best skills. Why? Because we want to make sure that you can push this from idea to paper with the same vision you’ve had in your mind. If your idea utilizes your best skills, let’s get started and find out what your idea is missing and focus on what you need to move forward. DEVELOP A PLAN

 

I’ve helped hundreds of people execute and enhance their ideas. The first thing I notice most are always missing is--a plan. Not being prepared or having a plan is a recipe for idea disaster. Many get stuck with developing a plan because they feel it needs to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be perfect or extremely detailed, but it does need to list the goals you want to accomplish. Include a timeline of your plan to make sure you hold yourself accountable for the amount of time you want to commit to executing the idea.

 

RESEARCH

 

Ask yourself a few questions before you begin your research. Is this a brand new idea? Has it been done before? If your idea is already on the market, how can you enhance it? These questions will frame your research. Remember, Google is often your best friend, and there are many other sites that may be able to help you flush out more parts of your idea.

 

DO NOT PROCRASTINATE

 

Many times clients come with an idea they've had for years, but have been waiting for the right time. There’s never a right time, so why wait? Don’t let the perfect plan, money, or anything else hold you up. You have to step out on faith and go for it, learn from your mistakes and continue to figure out your idea. Fear only equals wasted time, so stop waiting around and get started.

 

GET A TEAM

Find experts and hire them to do the tasks that you aren’t good at. Whether that’s sales, marketing, accounting or branding find someone who can get the job done. Make sure they have a proven track record and check their references.
